Balsamiq Mockup === Awesome!!!
I have been using FogBugz (the online free version) for a few months now. It is very helpful, and works great. The folks at Fog Creek recently released a new version of FogBugz so I have been playing around with some of the new features. I have just realized that there is a plugin feature (I think this existed before but I was slow noticing it). I browsed through some of the plugins and installed Balsamiq Mockup. After playing with Balsamiq for awhile I started to explore the Balsamiq site. I played with their application for a few more hours and then I downloaded (and purchased) their desktop app which works on Mac & PC (and I think Linux too). If you are still using a pen and paper to draw up your next project do yourself a favor and try this out. It only costs $79 for a single license (email them first and you may get them to give you a discount- they did for me). Even if you dont need this for a project I still find it fun to use.

Balsamiq is AWESOME! Pen and paper indeed takes longer.
ReplyDeleteOne problem I sometimes have is that I can't draw something that isn't a pre-set control. Same in Visio and other GUI-software.
In that case, I use the new MockupMagnets:

Technically it's drawing, but with these tools, it's faster than software.
Great post!

I think they do need to add a way to create your own controls to Balsamiq and be able to save them to reuse.
